BIOMASS ENERGY PRODUCTION

800 Super’s Biomass Plant produces 2 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity monthly — enough to power approximately 5,000 four-room HDB flats. This energy is more than sufficient to keep our facility running 24/7.

A portion of this electricity powers our Sludge Treatment Plant. In turn, the sludge treatment process generates up to 20 tonnes of steam per hour at 200°C. This renewable steam supports our industrial laundry operations.

We utilise biological waste materials, including:

  • Horticultural waste from NParks tree pruning
  • Industrial wood waste from packaging and timber sectors

High-calorific materials (e.g., wooden pallets, crates, logs) are used for biomass fuel, while lower-calorific materials (e.g., leaves, branches) are converted into compost for gardening use.

Our facility is equipped with high-capacity machinery capable of processing 16,000 tonnes of wood and horticultural waste monthly into biomass fuel.

Integrated Energy and Resources Recovery

800 Super has invested over $130 million into a Self-Sustaining Integrated Energy and Resources Recovery Facility — a 21,000-square-metre space (about three football fields) that features a complete energy ecosystem supporting multiple business lines.

The facility includes:

  • Biomass Plant
  • Sludge Treatment Plant
  • Industrial Laundry Plant

This integrated system efficiently recovers energy from one operation and channels it into the next. It reduces environmental strain by processing waste, recovering resources, and reintegrating them into sustainable production.

New Business Offerings

Leveraging its advanced facilities, 800 Super has expanded into two new synergistic business lines:

  • Animal feed and sterilising processing
  • Heating services for third-party ISO tank containers

These services are based at the Tuas Integrated Facility and powered by renewable electricity from our Biomass Plant and steam from the Sludge Treatment Plant.

Animal Feed Processing

800 Super has launched its animal feed processing operation, which transforms wet spent grains such as malt and soybeans into feed ingredients. The process involves heat-drying and sterilisation, powered by steam from the Sludge Treatment Plant.

The facility initially processes 240 tonnes of spent grains daily, with plans to double capacity to 480 tonnes by the end of 2020.

ISO Tank Container Heating

800 Super also provides heating services for third-party ISO tank containers. This is achieved using renewable steam produced by the sludge treatment process — offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional fuel sources like diesel.

These new ventures reflect our commitment to harnessing renewable electricity and steam generated within our self-sustaining integrated facility.

Hazardous Waste Management

At our Tuas Integrated Plant, 800 Super operates a state-of-the-art hazardous waste incinerator capable of safely treating:

  • Oil sludge
  • Waste oil
  • Contaminated soil
  • Other chemically contaminated materials

We take pride in delivering comprehensive hazardous waste services that comply with all safety and regulatory requirements.

Our Solutions for Hazardous Waste Management

Laboratory Analysis
We identify and quantify the hazardous characteristics of waste — including reactivity, corrosivity, ignitability, and toxicity — for proper classification and regulatory compliance.

Waste Pretreatment
Pretreatment involves techniques to reduce the hazardous nature of waste, minimise environmental impact, and ensure safer handling and disposal.

Incineration
High-temperature combustion (800–1,100°C) breaks down waste into ash, gases, and heat. Emissions are continuously monitored with advanced systems to meet regulatory limits.

Stabilisation
Stabilisation processes alter or reduce hazardous properties of waste, improving safety during handling, transportation, and disposal.

Comprehensive Services

  • Waste Characterisation: Accurate identification and classification of hazardous materials
  • Transportation: Safe and compliant logistics to approved disposal sites
  • Disposal: Environmentally responsible methods adhering to all regulations
  • Consulting Services: Expert advice on waste management strategies, compliance, and sustainability best practices
